"We're Called The NATIONAL Rugby League, But We Shouldn't Be": MG Ramps Up Calls For NRL Expansion
ON THE RUSH HOUR WITH MG
Mark Geyer has called for the NRL to give itself a shot in the arm and expand immediately.
The former Western Reds player has told Triple M, there's no better way to announce expansion, for the coming years, ahead of State of Origin II set to take place in front of a sell-out crowd in Perth at Optus Stadium.

A great idea, well done Mark Geyer...
Had a yak to MG one day at Allen Field when Matt Geyer was playing for Freo Roosters. He had his young bloke with him and the way he was with that little kid it was hard to imagine how he could turn into such a raving looney once he crossed the chalk. He's far from alone I suppose. Built himself quite a media career and good at it.

@ Shasta; I'd like them to bring the Western Reds back, or would you prefer the West Coast Pirates brand?

Let's have one of these in WA! Click this link: Saitama Super Arena - New Perth Stadium?
I'm with you. Always liked the connection to the (mostly) WA roo. When I first came to WA 42 years back, I saw a real giant at Waroona Dam. I couldn't believe how big it was. The impression stuck.
Tone down the jersey a bit though. Didn't like the licorice all-sort look much.

I'm a little surprised they changed the bid to the Pirates brand, would prefer they kept the WA/Perth Reds branding of the bid.
Pirates would be a marketing dream, especially to get kids involved. Mascots, merchandise (eye patches, bandannas, swords, parrots, peg legs), team and supporter songs that sound like sea shanties, there argh so many options..
