Force Still In Finals Race
The Western Force are still in the race for the Super 14 finals after an emphatic 45-17 bonus-point win over the Cheetahs at Subiaco Oval on Friday night.
Yay!
Come to the dark side
We have milk and cookies
Don't think we're in finals contention anymore.![]()
Brumbies, Cheifs, Sharks and Bulls all won and we needed most of these teams to lose.
*sigh*
Brumbies need us to beat the blues to be in with a chance or reds to beat the bulls.... probably be a better option to cheer on the force.![]()
Go the aussies! lets hope all the australian teems go out on a win!
Signals
I think the Force will miss out this year, but a great season any way
I just saw on foxsports tat we are still a theoretical (not sure on the spelling) chance, just need to beat the blues with a bonus point and then hope tat the bulls, chiefs and brumbies not only lose but pick up no points. Surely after the way the bulls (i think, correct me if i'm wrong) stole a spot in the 4 last year gives remote hope :p regardless of next weeks results im still proud of the efforts and the improvement in the boys this season, bring on season 2008
Good point jargan, but its fraction more dire than that.....
From my read of the table
Assuming we win with a BP.....then we go to 37 points
- if the Brumbies lose (we don't care about BP) we are ahead of them
- if the Chiefs lose without a bonus point they stay on 36 points, so we are ahead of them
- now, the 2 teams in 3rd and 4th already have 37 points and a significant point differential, however one of those teams is the Blues. Its easier (if thats the word in this case!) to cut a differential against a team you play against (i.e. your differential improves whilst theirs decreases by the same amount). As such we need to beat the Blues by 42 or more!
So true enough, still possible, but realistically every other game went against us this weekend (except our own of course!! - well done fellas)
Lets just enjoy the season for the remarkable efforts in growth we've seen. We've got to personally witness a 4 home game winning streak (and chances of making that 5) when last year the best we witness was a (robbed!) draw. We may rue the 2 1 pointers, the draw and the 2 pointer but we may just learn from them and come back smarter and stronger next year.
definately going to rue the two 1 point losses and the draw, to beat any of the kiwi sides by 42 points is hard enough. But like you and me and many others said it has been a great year for the boys and i'm sure alot of people can be pround of them (myself included)
Still, the Hurricanes game and the Bulls game were close, and were those teams to be in our position they would be referring to those close results. Some say we were lucky with the 2 pts against the Tahs due to Norton-Knight's brain snap. Rugby is like that though - what we need next year is consistency - to beat at least two top four teams ( in the Bulls and Sharks, the former in Pretoria) and to go down to the Lions et al was disappointing. I think that is what Mitchell refers to when he says we need to toughen up in this competition - I think its mental as much as physical.
To be in contention The Force must bea the Blues by more than 47 points (highly unlikely) AND the Brumbies must loose. Seeing as last Friday was our highest score ever I can't see a 47-0 game this Friday.Originally Posted by Jess
Keep dreaming though - there is always another season, with a refreshed team.
Bear in mind that a large number of current high profile players will retire after RWC07.
and Reds must beat the Bulls. sif thats going to happen.Originally Posted by hopep

Force, even if we dont out with with a force, we have forced our way through the year, forced all eyes on us, and forced the Super 14 competition, not to mention the rest of Australia, for that matter the rest of the world to acknowledge us as a FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH.
SO, ALL OF FORCE! ENJOY THE LAST MATCH, ,and make sure we keep the good feeling WE'RE COMING OUT WITH A FORCE THE NEXT YEAR!!
