The Waratahs attack coach Brian Melrose is moving on to pursue other coaching opportunities after two seasons with the Waratahs.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here but the Waratahs are heading in a different direction with their coaching setup,” said Melrose.
“There’s a growing number of professional coaching opportunities in Australia and overseas and I’m looking forward to resuming my chase for a senior professional coaching position.”
Waratahs head coach Ewen McKenzie paid tribute to Melrose and his passion for coaching.
“Brian is clearly passionate about his rugby and his coaching. He offers a broad range of coaching skills and I think he’ll do well wherever he ends up,” said McKenzie.
“He was a very good head coach at Manly and after two seasons with the Waratahs I think Brian is in a strong position to head up another team.
“Brian’s been part of a pretty successful Waratahs campaign and that would make him an attractive proposition for many rugby franchises.”
Melrose joined NSW Rugby in 2004 as an Academy coach before a rapid promotion to the Waratahs for the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
