Come on guys lets have some comments on yeserdays game. My seat was crap, so my comments are limited. Although I will say our backs did not look at all confident, a lot of times they looked as though they did not know where they should be and lacked ideas. I know we scored a lot of tries but let's face it Fiji are not a great side and we should look comfortable against them which we did not. We are a long way off of the All Blacks and the boks.
BTW, Boof got another try in the A's game...well done!
Just happy to be here
the best thing about the match was the 0 (for fiji). This is 2 weeks in a row without conceding points. This means exelent defence and pretty good disiplane for not giving away to many penalties. i would say there up to the all blacks and boks on defence. (boks got a try scored against them by samoa.)
I think they need to inprove on ball handling though. it was pretty poor and they better hurry up and fix it because they cant just be giving away possesion like that.
overall a good game for a fairly unexperianced side.
I think it was all part of the Grand Plan. Those balls weren't dropped they were put down so the team could practice loose ball moves. The backs were never lost, they were trying to confuse Figi.
The lineouts were much better this week.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
just watching the replay now.....and with focus onguys I think Drew Mitchell was the Man of the Match with Scott Staniforth very close behind. In fact I think Stanners did more clean out and protection of the ball at the breakdown then a couple of unnamed props....He'll have to watch that swinging arm tho.....lol
I'm with you Gerry! Loved Spanner's work. Absolutely priceless shot when he got pinged for the swinging arm - Big shrug of should - no honestly I don't know what the ref is pinging me for!!1iconrofl:
Then the replay came on - absolutely priceless!! On ya Spanner!!
Staniforth is King!!!
I don't really agree with that. No great changes have been made between the All Blacks/Wallabies/Springboks since last year. Yes there are a couple of new faces in all the teams but since we haven't yet been tested by a quality side you really can't gauge the difference. Since the first Springbok game isn't at altitude I wouldn't actually be surprised if the Wallabies win.Originally Posted by The EnForcer
I thought Larkham looked pretty ordinary. A few dodgy passes to Staniforth, who managed to do well anyway.
not overly impressed with outcome. Thought many players put on a good showing and showed their capacity to become wallabies.
The side was not too different on paper from the Australia A team which beat Fiji 60-3 a few weeks back. For the senior team to only get 49-0 was very underdone- key differences were :
1. Australia A had a 'coach'
2. Wallabies still play for defence first - very borign to watch at times.
Best bit was Spanner/AAC combo. Those boys did ok, probably the best result out of all the recent experiments. Larkham looked a bit dusty, maybe he as not up 'mentally' to a game v Fiji, one the Wallabies were expected to win easily.

Larkham, and hopefully a few others, will tune in for the tri-nation fixtures. There;s a distinct 'lift' in performance from true elite level players when the stakes lift.
Huxley could do with some more kicking practice, only got 3 of 8 conversions.
Yes, Huxley struggled to convert from the right hand side kicks. Those type of situations that keep the scoreboard ticking over in favour of the Wallabies will be the major difference between a win or a loss v the Boks and ABs. Huxley seems to really be a confidence player too, I would have to compare him to Percy in that regard as they both have some brain explosions sometimes.

Huxley struck the first kicks true but after the 3rd you could see his body language drop. when his on a roll he will be unstopable but until then.... back to the bench.
Agree with all of the above. Gerry is spot on, Stanners was the man at the breakdown.
the punters friend..... stick with me and you will be wearing
yeah.......with that hairdo he might ALMOST be mistaken for a true forward...
