The Sydney Children's Hospital has confirmed that a baby girl who is in a critical condition with abdominal injuries after being run over this morning is the daughter of former Wallaby great Phil Kearns.
Police say the 20-month-old girl was hit by a four wheel drive driven by her father at the family home in Mosman, on Sydney's north shore.
She was stabilised at the Royal North Shore Hospital before being transferred to the intensive care unit of the Children's Hospital.
The chief executive of the Australian Rugby Union, Gary Flowers, says the thoughts and prayers of the rugby community are with the Kearns family.
"Phil has obviously been a great rugby player and he's in the media, but he is a great rugby ambassador," he said.
"He does a lot of work, work for charities and I think when these sorts of things happen to a person like Phil, it behoves us all, you know to be thinking of him, he and his family at this time."
The Kearns family has released a statement asking for its privacy to be respected.

Heart felt best wishes to Phil's daughter and the rest of the Kearns famly. Here's hoping things are better than they seem and to a speedy recovery...
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
The thoughts of the rugby community are surely with this true rugby gentleman and his family in this difficult time.
Wishing the Kearns family every strength in seeing the speedy recovery of their daughter.
Phil Kearns has been an inspiration to many since coming to prominance with the Wallabies, I hope that we can now in some small way prove to be an inspiration to him and his loved ones.
