Perth Glory owner Tony Sage has vowed to fight any push to have his club leave Member's Equity Stadium - despite suggestions the FFA believes the former Perth Oval will be unsuitable to be any part of a bid to host the soccer World Cup.

Glory, the Western Force and WA's rugby league fraternities have been pushing the State Government hard in recent months to give the green light to a $73 million upgrade of Perth's premier rectangular stadium.
Sage admitted he was stunned over the weekend at reports that talks between the FFA and government officials last week centred on other potential sites as possible soccer venues - including the old East Perth power station
"There has been a spanner in the works, the FFA have come out to the west and put another proposal forward which has surprised everybody," Sage said.
"It certainly took us by surprise at Perth Glory, so we wait and see.
"We think that there will be a solution to MES within the next two months, it has to happen, everyone knows about the facilities.
"The Force are moving here next season and the government will act, I think, in the next couple of months."
The FFA's bid to host a soccer World Cup would currently not include Perth, with Subiaco Oval considered unsuitable for rectangular sports after the growing discontent of Force fans.
A long time critic of the FFA, Sage said any push to move Perth Glory from its current home would be resisted.
"This has come out of left field, and needs to be digested by everyone. That (move) would be extremely bizarre and I don’t think it would happen," Sage said.

So he's saying if a new stadium is built the Glory won't move to it???

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
As the owner of the Glory he wouldn't have to
But pressure would come from othert sources such as Foxsports who at the moment are filming from temporary scaffolding, sponsors. It would be stupid to stay Corporate wise as well
Isn't there a connection somewhere in the background between the Glory and Allia? I might be getting it mixed up iwth something else- can someone clarify?
Can't think of any genuinely good reason for the Glory to continue play there if there's the option of a newer, better designed stadium unless they're protecting someone's commercial interests (hmm... who does that sound like?)
I thought it was Allia and the previous owners of the Glory were connected.

oh well not that they would do it if it was just for us and glory didn't go there but if they did it would be just ours- who cares! They would be stupid not to move
RugbyWA need a new home with training facilities....
Training facilities were moved to UWA as part of some "centre of excellence" project that is underway, I know that the WACA is moving it's training facilities out there soon as well. But RugbyWA do need a new admin headquarters thats for sure
I thought they went to UWA as some landfill in Claremont they were to move to was still leaking toxic gases?
Training was moved to UWA for the above reason (from my last post)
The admin in Claremont was on a toxic landfill so it got the arse and I haven't heard anything about it since
I thought that was the project that got the arse
Obviously not looking at some of the pics of contruction
