Charlie Hodgson criticised the Twickenham crowd ahead of Saturday's Six Nations opener against Wales.{br}{br}View the Entire Article{br}
Have to say he is absolutely spot on. "Ordinary" supporters do not get a look in at Twickenham, the place is filled with suits on a corporate bash with little or no interest in the game. ERFU say that they distribute tickets to the grass roots clubs but sadly they also condone these clubs selling on their allocation to raise the badly needed funds. Those tickets that do become available are at extortionately inflated prices which prevents Joe Public from going. This week the english Suppporters Club offered some tickets on the still unfinished South Stand. This is essentially still a buiding site, uncovered and yet to receive a safety licence for the game but the seats were £48.50 (about AUD110) via Ticketmugger, on top of that you had to pay £39.00 to become a member and a further £4.50 processing fees. All in all if you were even lucky enough to get one of these tickets for an uncovered building site before all the touts got in before you it would cost about AUD200.
Until this is sorted I don't think Charlie will be the last English player to admit he would rather play somewhere else!
How rooted is that?!
Never thought I'd feel sorry for a pom but I nearly am on that!
We might not get many games here in Perth but at least if you act quickly you can get to the matches in good seats. Let's hope that never changes!
