Jake White to enter Lions' den
Tue, 26 May 2009 16:53
The Golden Lions Rugby Union directors have decided to appoint Jake White's Winning Way company to audit its structures, following discussions about the state of the union.
The GLRU said in a statement on Tuesday that it asked White's compnay to do a full assessment and audit of the structures of the union at all levels.
After the audit, White's company will make recommendations as to the way forward for rugby in Johannesburg.
The audit may have a bearing on the future of head coach Eugene Eloff, who has been linked with a move to Perth to take up a role as assistant coach at the Western Force.
Eloff, who is contracted with the Lions until the end of the Currie Cup, has admitted that an offer from the Australian franchise is on the table, but he has since indicated that he wants to stay with the Lions after they showed great promise in the latter part of this year's Super 14.

You're right, Jargs, and what will I read? I take back my nonsensical remark.
What would Eugene Eloff offer in place of Mulvers?

Ambivalent on that one. Sure Eloff has had shite to work with at the Lions but the shite is still fairly shite.
Having said that he did lead one of the South African age grade sides to the championship before the JWC (I think it was with the U21s).
I think the general plan with coaching tends to be that the assistant coach is always a strong possibility to become head coach and I don't think I'd be happy with Eloff as full Force coach.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
So would Eloff be categorised a forwards or backs oriented coach?

South African Super 14 rugby side, the Lions sacked coach Eugene "Loffie" Eloff on Wednesday only a week before the team meets the British and Irish Lions......
......The players were informed, said chief executive Manie Reyneke, and Hans Coetzee was appointed interim head coach.
