PARTY boy Danny Cipriani's future at the Rebels was again in question last night after the Melbourne five-eighth was involved in a car accident.
Cipriani was forced to explain to club officials the circumstances of a bingle early on Monday morning in which a car driven by the Englishman and another car collided in Richmond as he was on his way to training.
Police were not called to the scene but were later contacted by the female driver of the other car.
Rebels chief executive Ross Oakley spoke to Cipriani yesterday and the 23-year-old's whereabouts on Sunday night were part of the discussion.
"He did have a nose to tail but I'm not sure what time it was ... he certainly exchanged names and addresses with the person involved and then drove on, as I understand it, to training and was quite late," Oakley said.
"My understanding is that it was one of his mate's cars. I think (the other driver) might have contacted police but there seems to be no police report about it at this point of time."
The Melbourne AGM was held last night but a Rebels spokesman said Cipriani's status was not due to be discussed at the meeting.
Cipriani has regularly found trouble since he joined up with the new Super Rugby franchise this season.
He was left out of the Rebels squad currently touring South Africa after repeated breaches of team rules, including missing training less than 24 hours after a big night out in Sydney.
That incident had prompted Oakley to say the playing group and management had "lost confidence" in Cipriani.
