Following my posts regarding trying to get a signed Force shirt for my wee boy a Sunday times journalist got in touch with me via Coach. He was interested in doing a story about Mac my son and how he was a member 4 months before he was born. Nick, the journalist also wanted to arrange a photo with some of the players too and set up a time for last Friday down at Rugby Park.
Anyway, my wife, Mac and I rocked up to find another couple there with their baby, Cameron, who is actually the youngest Force member. David Fitter was the Force player who the two boys were going to have their picture taken with and after being introduced to him I found him to be a real nice guy. I also managed to grab a hold of John Mitchell who signed a first match program I brought along.
Following 20 to 30 minutes of taking photos with David, who was very good with the babies considering he had to hang on to both for quite a long time, we were interviewed by Nick. While hanging around to chat to Nick, Peter O'Meara came up and introduced himself to my wife and I and we ended up having a long chat with him. I was immensely impressed with Peter's friendly manner and as he left, my crack at trying to find out who the new back is going to be just received a grin and a shake of the head. Worth a go anyway.
Nick had told me that the article would be in Sunday's issue of the Times but no show, so I guess it may make it in next week.
Thanks to the Force and Nick for doing this for my son…….the photo of him being held like a rugby ball by David Fitter will look great along with the signed shirt and programme in the frame.
Just happy to be here
Great stuff, I was wondering how it all went! Did you take any of you own snaps - Sunday Times will probably own the rights to any they took.
Lets hope Mac doesn't end up an Aussie Rules player (not that there's anything wrong with that)
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Great stuff TEF, will make for a great photo on the traditional 21st Birthday "Wall of Shame"!
Lucky that Mac didn't turn into a Big Mac for David, he's a rather large unit!
That's great to hear TEF, as others have said though, need pics.![]()
Does this mean we can call Mac - Junior Burger? Hes not quite Big Mac just yet
Can someone post the article when it does appear - dont get the Sunday Times here

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
