YERONGA: After another consistent season in Trinity Premier Rugby this year, South’s Flipper Manu has signed with the Western Force.
The inspirational skipper was instrumental for Souths last season, but coach Dan McKellar said the biggest bonus for the club was that Manu would be back at Chipsy Wood Oval once the Super 14 had finished.
“Flipper toured the UK with the Force and he performed well so they have offered him a contract, which is a great opportunity for him,” McKellar said.
“The big positive for us is that he will still be available to play for Souths after the Super 14, which is great because he brings so much enthusiasm to not just the team but the whole club.”
The Magpies will now be looking to their younger ranks to pick up where Manu left off and lead from the front.
“We have signed the Faingaa twins and Jack Kennedy from the Brumbies and we have a few younger guys who we will be calling on to step up.”
The Magpies have been in fitness training for three weeks and will start full pre-season training on December 2.
