I was thinking that after 5 Super rugby seasons, how far have we come with the team?
So I did a little comparison of the team that ran out on Subiaco Oval against the Brumbies back in 2006 against the team that played this year to see how we have got along:
Gareth Hardy vs Pek Cowen adv 2010
Brendon Cannon vs Nathan Charles adv 2006
David Fitter vs Tim Fairbrother adv 2010
John Welborn vs Ben McCalman adv 2010
Nathan Sharpe vs Nathan Sharpe adv 2010
Luke Doherty vs Matt Hodgson adv 2010
Matt Hodgson vs David Pocock adv 2010
Scott Fava vs Richard Brown adv 2010
Matt Henjak vs Brett Sheehan adv 2006
Scott Daruda vs David Hill adv 2010
Digby Ioane vs Cameron Shepherd adv 2010
Lachlan McKay vs Scott Staniforth adv 2010
Junior Pelasusa vs Mitch Inman adv 2010
Scott Staniforth vs Nic Cummins adv 2006
James Hilgendorf vs James OConnor adv 2010
Tai McIsaac vs Ben Whittaker adv 2006
David Te Moana vs Nic Henderson adv 2010
David Pusey vs Tom Hockings adv 2010
Richard Brown vs Sam Wykes adv 2006
Chris OYoung vs Justin Turner adv 2006
Josh Graham vs Ryan Cross adv 2010
Cameron Shepherd vs Dane Haylett-Petty adv 2006
So we have:
2010: 15
2005: 7
Id suggest that we have come a long way in those 5 years!
Comments?
Might need a little more explanation
Disregard, thought about it, got it now.

Agreed on most ratings, though I'd argue Pusey '06 was more influential than Hockings '10. Perhaps not Hockings '09, but he had a fairly ordinary 2010.
To me, Puse is one that has slipped from the collective memory a little, he had some fantastic matches and was often the dominant lineout option in the first couple of years.
Agreed that Sharpie has just kept getting better with age, I hope the plane continues for the rest of his career!
Probably a big call of an out of position McCalman over the Mayor, though a clear points winner around the park.
Probably have to agree with James with Brown '06 v Wykes '10 too.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
One or two rough calls there Farva
I thought Matty Henjak was toilet in 2006....an absolute shocker, Sheehan is ten times what he was that year.....(Although that 2006 season could have been that our forwards were so weak he just had defenders in hs face the whole year and couldn't play to his potential) I would reckon that they probably stack up about even, and play the same style so Sheehan's little bit of extra bulk would probably see him shade ahaed.
I also think Lachie McKay vs Scott Staniforth and Scott Staniforth vs Nick Cummins isn't really fair. It's actually Lachie vs Cullet in effect.........I'd mark that as a 2010 and I reckon Spanner might JUST be getting better each year, so Scott Staniforth 2006 could be argued to be beaten by Scott Staniforth 2010.
By the same token though, you'd have to compare Sam Wykes with Scott Fava, and that's difficult to argue for an improvement.
I'm interested in looking at the front row. Sure Canno and Tai are much more experienced and capable than our current hookers, but I'm not so concerned about that when you look at how far the bookends have come. Boof was certainly a crowd favourite and worked bloody hard for it, but he didn't have much to help him out in the early years. If you took the front row as a unit, I'd call 2010 about 150% of 2006.
Second row is a clear win too......somebody told me the other day Puse was playing fifths for Cott on the weekend, no wonder he doesn't have a contract!
