Following the "roaring success" of the League XV's thread http://thewholeforce.com/showthread.php?t=1041 by request here is the thread starter for AFL's potential XV's.
The same rules apply, it is meant as a bit of fun and the assumption is that the listed players have always played Union, not if they could play it now with their respective AFL backgrounds!
And remember, while they would have the same frame there would be up to fifteen kilo more muscle hanging of it for the forwards as they would have been doing more appropriate weights throughout their pro careers.
So, let the arguments begin
Burgs' AFL Wallabies:
- Warren Tredrea (VC) 194cm 100kg Port Adelaide; The 194cm "Wall" up front, with weights would be the bassis of a huge pack, Tredrea for skill.
- Barry Hall 194cm 101kg Sydney; The 194cm "Wall" up front, with weights would be the bassis of a huge pack, Hall for mongrel.
- Quinten Lynch 194cm 102kg West Coast; The 194cm "Wall" up front, with weights would be the bassis of a huge pack, Lynch for grunt.
- Dean Cox 204cm 104kg West Coast; The two most mobile big men in AFL.
- Steven King 202cm 106kg Geelong; The two most mobile big men in AFL.
- Fraser Gehrig 195cm 101kg St Kilda; Great combination of speed and strength, would be a big #7 in the McCaw mold.
- Mark Ricciuto 183cm 90kg Adelaide; Plenty of mongrel and strength, a scavenger in the Waugh mold.
- Jonathon Brown 195cm 102kg Brisbane; A big angry ball runner of the Willie O school.
- Glenn Archer 182cm 91kg Kangaroos; The toughest of tough with speed and strength.
- Ben Cousins (VC) 179cm 80kg West Coast; Great speed and agility with an ability to "make time slow down". A pivot similar to Carter.
- Matthew Pavlich 191cm 99kg Fremantle; A massive winger like Rok, would hammer down the white line and cause havoc in the centres.
- Brad Johnson 182cm 85kg Bulldogs; Tough, determined and 100% given every minute. A Horan style of centre.
- Nathan Buckley (Cap) 186cm 91kg Collingwood; Annoyingly a Pie and Eddies.... OK OK he never "played footy". Excellent leader of men, would fill a similar role as Morlock though potentially better at off-loading.
- Chris Judd 189cm 85kg West Coast; What you see for the Eagles you would see on the rugby pitch, pure inspiration, the best of Tuqiri for 80 minutes.
- James Clement (VC) 190cm 95kg Collingwood; The ultimate fullback in either code, would have a similar presence and flair as Latham.
- Robert Harvey 181cm 84kg St Kilda; The wiley old man of the team, has seen every opponent in every condition, as tough as nails and ever reliable.
- David Neitz 191cm 103kg Melbourne; Another hardman who would inject power into the match during the second half. An extra back rower in the front row.
- Luke Darcy 197cm 100kg Bulldogs; The mobile big man to cover 4-8.
- Andrew McLeod 180cm 83kg Adelaide; Mobility plus, plenty of strength and speed, would be everywhere like a George Smith.
- Scott West 178cm 80kg Bulldogs; Ever reliable, always there like Harvey.
- Daniel Chick 185cm 88kg West Coast; Pure mongrel and tackling. The "heart" of the team to be brought on to disrupt the opposition centres and inspire the rest to greater things.
- Justin Leppitsch 191cm 97kg Brisbane; The consumate professional roving the defensive half to run back the long kick.
