Rugby supporters will get their fill of news and behind the scenes action following a new partnership between the Emirates Western Force and Channel Nine and WIN Television.
The two year agreement has significant benefits for the Emirates Western Force who’ll gain exposure through one of the state’s leading media outlets.
“Channel Nine and WIN Television are delighted to be joining the Emirates Western Force as a major media partner for the next two Super 14 seasons,” said Ian McRae, General Manager of Channel Nine and WIN Television in Perth.
“Nine News will cover all major team and player announcements and Channel Nine will be Perth’s ‘Home of Rugby’ heading into the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
“Free-to-air coverage of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand will also be exclusively on Nine.
“This is a great partnership and we are right behind John Mitchell and the team.”
Young star James O’Connor will be a regular on Nine News with his take on upcoming matches while you’ll also see players appear on a variety of programmes including the popular local production Just Add Water.
“We’re delighted to join with Channel Nine and WIN Television and believe the association will greatly enhance the quality and coverage rugby supporters are looking for throughout the state,” said RugbyWA CEO Vern Reid.
Well about bloody time, since they have done bugger all so far. Perhaps they are starting to see the bigger picture(outside AFL).
the punters friend..... stick with me and you will be wearing
any publicity is good!...
Good!
Now maybe some non-rugby followers will get a little look into an international competition in their own town which has been going on for the last 4 years. Joining that up with the RWC is a nice little boost, too.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
it is the courage to continue that counts.

Can't wait for:
- an ad break immediately after a try is scored, usually long enough to miss a quick conversion kick live.
- slip an ad break in when the ref calls full penalty, usually long enough to miss the conversation with the infringing player and captains.
- slip an ad break in when the ref calls a time-out, long enough to miss blood bin exchanges or player substitutions
- missing the first few seconds of the throw at line-out to the end of an ad.
- Missing the hit in scrums to the end of an ad.
- Missing the kick-off for the second half to the end of a particularly long series of ads.
- Hearing inane comments by part time union commentators.
- Hearing rugby called like a horse race by part time union commentators.
- Watching the same Toyota / toilet freshener / Hungry Jacks advert a thousand times.
Free to air commercial TV and Union do not currently mix, they do not show enough respect for or understanding of the game.
Channel nine do not broadcast the S14. So why are we all currently "enjoying" the Channel 9 news advert blared three times a match at the MES?
Being good gets you stuff
Being stuff gets you good
Maybe they can get some coverage of a local Premier grade game happening once a week instead of a 40 year old Elvis movie?
I know it's wishful thinking......![]()
There is meant to be an announcement soon about 2011 SANZAR rugby media rights. Lets hope free to air will get a some piece of the action... Perhaps 9 has something… But don’t expect it before 2011 regrettably.
Well, judging by 9 and the Winter Olympics......
Can't wait to see Eddie Everywhere and James Brayshaw covering Rugby. Probably the only thing that will make Kearnsy sound like a half decent commentator.

Could go with Alisa Camplin doing the colour comments though, "telling it like it is"
"Tell us what happened there Alisa"
