Winger Nick Cummins will look to be back in Emirates Western Force colours in the early stages of the 2010 Investec Bank competition after having surgery on his foot recently.
A member of the Wallabies Spring tour training squad, Cummins sustained the injury in Sydney during camp when a team mate accidently landed on the back of his ankle during a contact drill.
Cummins said he was hopeful of returning to action near the beginning of the season.
“It’s always disappointing to have an injury, but now that I have had a sniff of the highest level I am hungrier than ever,” Cummins said.
“I will be working hard with the medical staff to hasten the healing and be very thorough in following my rehabilitation program.”
Emirates Western Force Doctor Mark De Cruz said recovery from this type of injury was often a slow process.
“Nick has ruptured ligaments in his foot, and that will take time to heal,” De Cruz said.
“The surgery went well, so we are hopeful that Nick will be available in approximately four to five months.”
