As the season unfolds a number of aspects are becoming locked in:

+ David Pocock still leads the pack as the best performing No 7 - mostly due to his impressive number of Turn Overs Won. AND his efficiency in earning them.
+ Liam Gill continues to maintain his high level of Ruck Involvements and is increasing his rate of TOW/match.
+ Gill continues to average more carry m than Hooper.
+ Gill and Pocock major contributors of Defense Ruck Involvements for their teams.
+ Matt Hodgson a strong supporter of the Force's ball carriers.
+ Matt Hodgson still compares very well; 2nd in Ruck Involvements and leading tackler. Never carries wide enough to make many m with his carries. A Continues to be a key contributor for the Force.
+ Sean McMahon, although wearing the No 7 jersey, is really playing the game of a No 6. Lowest TOW effectiveness. He acknowledges that he has to improve this part of his game.
+ Jordy Reid, although wearing the No 6 jersey, plays more of a traditional No 7 game.
+ Michael Hooper has the lowest level of Ruck Involvements and has worked hard to improve his tackle count and TOW.

It will be interesting to see who makes the Wallabies squad for the England tests.

Pleasing to see George Smith get the RPA Player of the Year in the Aviva Premiership. Not bad for a 35yo!

Who did all the Ruck work for the Australian Teams in Round 12?

    Remember:
    1. Early means 1st or 2nd of player’s team AFTER the ball carrier has been tackled and brought to ground.
    2. Impact means active engagement: strong physical contact, changed shape of ruck, clean-out, protecting ball etc. (more than hand on someone’s bum or arriving after the hard work has been done). Yes it’s subjective - but as I collect all data at least it’s consistent.
    3. Impact DOES NOT equate to Effectiveness. I’ve concluded that coming up with an effectiveness measure is just too hard in the time that I have available – but open to suggestions.

Impressive lift for the start of the 2nd half by the Rebels, Reds and Waratahs.

As usual Back Rowers (9) make up more than half of this list but some strong contributions from Front Rowers (5) and the normal Locks (2).

Only 8 of these players were in the 2015 RWC squad.

    Individual Contributions

GILL - 15% of the Reds Total; 12% Attack; 26% Defence.

POCOCK - 12% of the Brumbies Total; 10% Attack; 21% Defence.

HOOPER - 9% of the Waratahs Total; 9% Attack; 10% Defence.

McMAHON - 11% of the Rebels Total; 11% Attack; 11% Defence.
