Nick Cummins will never forget his first love.
With the biggest adventure of his life about to kick off on The Bachelor Australia on Wednesday night, a trip to Perth this week had the “Honey Badger” reminiscing about his favourite “girl”, nib Stadium.
“I can see the stadium from my window where I’m staying,” Cummins said, whistling as he remembered his old turf where he played for the Western Force for eight years.
“A lot of memories there — beautiful spot.
“The sea of blue at nib — the passion, the excitement, everything that place gives, it feels like you’re in a stadium of emotion. It’s powerful.”
With Perth contestant Brooke Blurton rumoured to be in the final four, it could have something to do with his motivation to spend spend a lot more time in his old home town.
“I’m actually thinking about coming back for a trot,” he said.
“Still got a few kilometres in the old getaway sticks. So I might book myself in for a bit of a tune-up, a bit of a service, about a month of conditioning, and then spearhead myself into the mix and if Twiggy (Andrew Forrest) and the boys will let me come in for a couple of games.
“They have a photo of me on the wall at the Red Sea (in Subiaco).
“I think it has changed names or something now but that’s where I learnt most of my dance moves — on the d-floor there.”
With less than a week until the Ten reality show airs, Cummins confessed he’s getting nervous.
“Some of the anxiety has crept up a bit. Who knows what’s bloody going to come out of it,” he said.
“It was a whole ball of emotion — there’s moments of depth, and moments of just good energy, to caring and just laughing and crying. There’s all kinds of things but that’s what its about.”
