New Prems coach for 2014 is Wayne Gibson![]()
have you told dave MckNight?
I am not very well up on what happens in club land what prompted the change of coach at Wanneroo?
Tony had to return to the east due to personal problems Dave stood in for the remainder of the season and Dave was in the club meeting last night when the new appointment was announced This is a great move for 2014

This announcement was made a year ago wasn't it? The writing was on the wall
Congratulations to Gibbo. Great to have him back up the ranks doing what he knows best.

And a fairly unsavoury set of circumstances if what I've heard is correct.
Force Guy, Any truth to the rumour that Pieter Blackie at Wanneroo has been banned by the judiciary for 8 weeks from participating in junior rugby? Still trying to get the details but sounds like an incident from a U15 or U16 game.

So you would consider the death of his father unsavoury then
Gibbo was always likely to step up this year.
RM. Reckon there could be a Roo Dog revival on the way?.

Gibbo was always likely to step up this year. No surprises there

Distance from the CBD is an issue for all outer suburbs clubs re attracting the transient players that spend a year or two in Perth before moving on. Wanneroo, Baysie, Kala and Rocky will always suffer this reality.

RM: Tend to agree with some aspects but not sure about the CBD distance arguement. Nedlands Associates Cottesloe - Sure they pay players plenty but can they realistically afford to live in those areas. No. Oh yes that's right they drive down the freeway past other clubs to get there for petrol money
Mid-table for the others: Maybe but at least (from what I've been told at Wanneroo) they have set out to bring the 18s and 20s through and not dip into the finances to bring in players. If other clubs don't do the same then rugby in Perth will never progress. Look at what the Dogs have done at their club. A gym for players and the new extension. Saw it the other day. Real good and they own it lock stock and barrel.
Buying success is a very short term outlook and not good for the future of rugby in WA
