Brumbies playmaker Matt Giteau will be free to play the Reds on Saturday night after he avoided suspension following a SANZAR judicial hearing in Canberra tonight.
Giteau however was fined AU$5,000 for his criticism of referee Steve Walsh's performance in last Saturday's 19-12 Super 14 loss to NSW
The Wallaibies first five-eight had said it was pointless for the Brumbies to turn up if Walsh was retained as referee for Saturday night's important clash with Queensland.
Walsh was stripped today of his duties for this weekend's game at Canberra Stadium, swapping matches with New Zealander Chris Pollock.

Just saw the package they put together on The Rugby Club between Walsh and the Brumbies that supposedly was meant to demonstrate how bad the communictions were. It actually makes me more supportive of Walsh purely in terms of who was at fault with communications, Hoiles was totally out of line and the rest was usual conversation between people who had been running around the paddock.

has anybody EVER been suspended for comments they made against the ref?
I thought Hoiles deserved a lot of what he got, he was pretty agressive in his questioning of the ref, I would have penalised him a couple times!

You can't expect to get away with telling any Ref that he made "A crap call" when you were the player allegedly at fault.

how about telling another player:
dont worry about it, he knows he made a bulls**t call.
as i heard in my brother's footy match not too long ago.
funnily enough the player in question was sent off. hahaha

where will it end if players are allowed to say their say I say it is wrong Discipline is going out the back door what will happen if the refs refuse to blow there whistles because of idiots like that !!! Play the game on the field and if you loose so be it.
