Scotland's sub-zero heroes freeze out Canada
November 23, 2008 - 6:29AM
Scotland 41 Canada 0
Scotland slid and shivered their way to a confidence-boosting 41-0 rugby triumph over Canada in arctic conditions at Pittodrie on Saturday.
The visitors should have felt more at home in the cold snap, but they had no answer to the pace, power and poise of the Scots.
Now coach Frank Hadden will aim to use the win as a springboard to success in the looming Six Nations campaign and the hosts - and Nikki Walker in particular - couldn't have dreamed of a brighter start.
Scotland skipper Mike Blair hailed his sub-zero heroes and admitted the clear-cut success will act as a twin inspiration for his Scotland side.
Blair said: "Losing to South Africa and New Zealand had been hugely disapponting, but this result will enable us to put these experiences firmly behind us.
"History is irrelevant now and we can now look ahead with confidence to the Six Nations campaign.
"It was just reward for the work and effort we have put in throughout the series and there is no doubt the crowd played a big part.
"The noise they made was fantastic and it certainly spurred us on."
