Force not strong
WHEN is someone of authority at rugby headquarters going to bite the bullet and tell the Western Force, "Sorry guys, it's not working. We're pulling the pin."
Last week, coach Michael Foley - signed by the Force after he led the Waratahs to four wins from 18 starts last season - spoke about his three-year plan.
Three years? Mike, mate, the Force has had seven years so far and there's barely a pulse. When the Force kicked off it cannibalised the top franchises in the country and built a strong roster, thanks largely to the promises of a dodgy sponsor.
Now the money's gone, the stars have gone, and in three matches this year the Force is yet to add to its tally of 32 wins from 104 starts.
Pack it in and put the resources into the Melbourne Rebels. They suck too, but at least there's strong corporate support and they play the game in private schools there.
