The Western Force will be without Wallabies Cameron Shepherd and Richard Brown for their most crucial match of the Super 14 season, against the Sharks of Durban at Subiaco Oval on Saturday.
However, New Zealand tighthead prop Ben Castle showed he was over the knock he took against the Crusaders last weekend and participated fully in yesterday’s training session at McGillivray Oval.
Winger Shepherd, who scored a hat-trick of tries against the Brumbies in round three, spent yesterday afternoon with an ice bag strapped to the ankle he sprained during the 23-23 draw in Christchurch.
No. 8 Brown did not test his injured shoulder and skipped the light-contact team session for a long run.
Coach John Mitchell indicated the 2-1-2 Force would have to do without both in a match which will determine whether they enter their mid-season break with a positive or negative record.
“Our depth is going to be tested and we’ll back our squad,” he said.
