The future of Western Australia's proposed $1.1 billion multi-purpose sporting stadium will be re-examined, WA's new Premier-elect Colin Barnett said today.
Mr Barnett said the merit and timing of every major capital works project would be re-assessed by the new coalition.
One of the major projects, the new $1.1 billion sporting stadium earmarked for construction at Subiaco's Kitchener Park, will be just one of those projects to be re-evaluated.

I really hope these quotes are the result of having to come up with something for the media on the spot given the attention the issue received today, rather than an indication of how well they're going to think through this decision- cos they're both a little alarming in the lack of understanding the issues.Redevelopments of the MCG, the Gabba and the Sydney's Homebush Stadium had all been successful, Mr Barnett said.

YAY!!
BOKKE“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White
GIGS, do we know where the petition is at the moment?
I heard on the 6pm news on Nova that Brendan Gylis is all for the new stadium apparently. I will try to chase that up in written form
Now he has some say, should we concider having a go at him, as in emailing and appealing?
I'd think being all for regional improvement he'd be all for improving the lives of regional towns people ie. Burgs & Robyn and improving their lives would be achieved via upgrading MES![]()
The presentation of the petition could be enough to show the support that Barnett is looking for to go ahead with scrapping the $1.1billion Subi upgrade!?!
Just caught the ABC version...not too much info there, but would be worth shooting a few notes the way of Barnett and Grylls- re: including MES in any major stadia upgrade plans.
I heard Grylls, re the iconic infrastructure projects say all should proceed regardless, without his wish list costings throwing a spanner in the works. Colin will be governing on a knife edge. Trouble at mill i reckon. Just give us 30 mill and we will have MES and make do and all of you can jam Subi up your collective clackers.
the punters friend..... stick with me and you will be wearing
