Hurricanes hooker Dane Coles is the latest New Zealand Super 14 rugby player to run into trouble with the law, according to radio reports.
Newstalk ZB have reported that the 22-year-old was arrested and charged with disorderly behaviour after a late-night incident in the capital over the weekend.
The station said Coles was arrested by the police on Saturday night and they understood he was to appear in the Porirua District Court today.
Wellington and Hurricanes CEO Greg Peters told Newstalk that if Coles was prosecuted he would likely also face action from the New Zealand Rugby Union under the misconduct policy in the collective agreement.
Peters said he understood the incident was "at the lower end of the scale".
Highlanders wing Fetu'u Vainikolo was fined, censured and suspended a match by the NZRU and his franchise after a late-night incident in Dunedin that was judged to be "serious misconduct".
And his Highlanders team-mate Adam Thomson is also before the courts over an alleged assault.
