Given there is yet to be an Australian based team win in New Zealand this year, it was always going to be a tough match for the Western Force against the Highlanders at "The House of Pain" in Dunedin.
In an error riddled match, the Western Force at one stage held 15-3 lead against the sluggish Highlanders, but a late 1st half try by the Highlanders gave the home team the lift they needed to come back from the break and take the lead with 20 minutes to go.
A valiant Western Force were 10 points down in the final minutes, with the Highlanders pushing hard for a 4 try bonus point when Staniforth intercepted a loose pass and made a 90 metre run for Shepherd to score and convert. 3 points in it, minutes to go. Alas, with a post siren chip kick from Cameron Shepherd bouncing desperately beyond his grasp - so to did the Western Forces hopes for a win this week. Final score - Force 22 - Highlanders 25.
The drought continues...
What can I say - Bring on the Blues!
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Our first win is getting closer all the time I feel...
We should have won the last 2 matches but I feel that team doesn't have the confidence in their ability to close out the matches...
I think that if that pass hadnt been forward and we had gotten the third try in the first half, then we would have gone on to win the match... but it's just those little things that take it out of you
Here's hoping for the blues Match
