just stumbled across this video from Sunday Night (7 news)
https://vimeo.com/340851602#t=499s
i thought it was interesting how his resignation form aussie rugby was presented to Hooper, and how well hooper handled it. I had forgotten that was why he left. ripper blkoe really. looks like it is working out bloody well for him.
The full video was a good watch, i didnt think i would watch it all.
(i found it stalking https://www.nickcummins.com.au/)
it was nice nostalgia.
A great story, haven't heard any updates?
It is sad that it is more lucrative for one of our highest profile National players to go to a "second tier" overseas comp though.
Surely yet another symptom of the decline of RA.
The irony being, he has probably gained a higher profile in Australia (reality TV, Ads etc) since he finished playing for Australia.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
I don't think what happened with Nick is solely a symptom of RA's decline, but among the causes. I've said it before, but I still get angry thinking about that time. How in hell did Clyne & Co not recognise what a walking, talking ad campaign they had at their fingertips, let alone his obvious Rugby talent? Imagine how many kids would have wanted to be like the Badger, had he stayed font and center (even if he would likely be coerced away from Perth). How many eyes he could have drawn from NRL & AFL watchers - everybody knew who he was. It's still a mystery that they didn't see it.
I'm pleased as as buggery to see what he's achieved despite the bastards.

I know die hard AFL fans who refuse to even acknowledge another winter sport but knew who the badger was. The exact thing Rugby are/were trying to achieve is breaking into that AFL market.
Unfortunately it didn't suit the narrative. It wasnt homeland nor the Rebels. That Rugby administration was soley run on Ol boys network and an ex NRL, ex AFL player for the Reds rubbed more/better elbows than a current Wallaby playing for those dastardly Force
