Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

It's not so much the quality of the wood, but the 40 years of dried up beer and tomato sauce holding them together.

I am obviously in the minority - I chose my seats at Subi in part because it was pew seating. Rugby crowds can be a bit on the hefty side and, in general, seat spacing in stadia are too narrow. It is certainly true in much of Subi and it is also true on the east side of MES. From memory, the west side is OK but it is the exception rather than the rule.

you cannot compare the seating on the east side of MES to the planks at subiaco.

you get about an arse cheeks worth at subiaco compared to the east stand at MES

You are supposed to sit on them sideways, not a leg either side.

I've always preferred the pews because they allow some flexibility in spacing. For a change, I was on the East side of MES on Friday and it was not particularly comfortable. It is not a bum thing - a row of lads with proper shoulders makes things difficult. At least on a pew, the benefit of any empty seat gets shared out.

So take a pillow, or an inflatable rubber ring - we have the technology!

Seriously is it just the seats that are the problem? The pews are ok if your butt fits into the mould of the chair but I prefer the wooden benches. More edge-of-your-seat matches and tries and we won't even need the seats!!

Ok then, me too - I prefer the benches because plastic seats spaced for AFL or soccer supporters are too narrow for real men.
