Dear Fraser,
Information for ticket purchasers for Christchurch matches
Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) Tournament partners have reluctantly announced that Christchurch will be unable to host the seven matches currently scheduled to be played at Stadium Christchurch and that, as a result, these matches will now be reallocated to be played at other venues in New Zealand. This follows a detailed review of reports assessing damage to key Tournament facilities and infrastructure caused by the devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck the city on February 22.
As part of this announcement it was confirmed that Eden Park in Auckland will now host the two quarter-finals originally scheduled for Christchurch. A decision regarding where the five Christchurch pool matches will now be played will be made by the end of March.
Please visit www.rugbyworldcup.com for a copy of today's media statement.
We are contacting you today because you are a ticket purchaser for a match/matches in Christchurch.
Under the RWC 2011 Ticket General Terms and Conditions (Ticket Conditions), where a match is rescheduled, ticket purchasers can either;
(a) exchange the ticket with RNZ 2011 for a ticket for the relevant rescheduled match;
or
(b) request a refund as set out in the Ticket Conditions in the event that you are unable to attend the rescheduled match. Please note that only the original ticket purchaser is entitled to a refund.
Please click here for the full Ticket Conditions.
For those ticket purchasers who would prefer to attend the rescheduled match, RNZ 2011 can confirm that there will be sufficient availability of tickets for you to be able to secure a ticket for the relevant match.
RNZ 2011 will provide you with full details of the process, by no later than March 30, to either (a) obtain a refund or (b) secure ticket(s) for the rescheduled match(es). As this process is currently being finalised, it is not possible for ticket refunds to be processed prior to this date.
We acknowledge this situation has created uncertainty for you and we thank you for your patience at this time as we work through the above process.
