The ACT Brumbies will make a formal approach to favoured son Matt Giteau's management team as early as the next 48 hours in an attempt to lure him back to Canberra.
But their task of signing the Wallabies playmaker has become significantly harder following revelations two new third-party companies have shown interest in covering missing payments of up to $750,000 to Giteau...
The Canberra Times understands underground equipment sales company ET Mining and marine provider TS Marine are the two companies interested in acting as saviours in the Force's bid to retain its marquee player.
The Canberra Times has learned Firepower had pledged about $1million in third-party payments to five Force players Giteau, Cameron Shepherd, Drew Mitchell, Ryan Cross and Scott Staniforth.
Giteau was to receive about $750,000 of that, with the other four players sharing the remaining $250,000.
Giteau has allegedly not been paid by Firepower since February.
It is not known in what capacity the new third-party players would assist financially for the missing payments.
