Chiefs pick up bonus point victory against the Force
The Chiefs got their first victory of the 2009 Super 14 on Friday when they beat the Force by 31 points to 13 and picked up the bonus point in extra time for the fourth try.
Lelia Masaga opened the scoring for the Chiefs by scoring their first try after creating an overlap on the wing. Stephen Donald converted the try which set up a lead for the Chiefs that was never conceded.
Two penalty kicks from the Force brought the Force to within a point after 12 minutes but that was the closest they got as two tries in the space of five minutes in the last quarter of the first half took the Chiefs to a half time lead of 21-6.
More to follow.

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

Seems to me that since Gits made is mind up to leave so as his game tonight again poor passing, kicking and he insists on throwing the ball away in tackles rather then presenting? Roll on end of season.
looks like the Freo Dockers syndrome has hit. 1 step forward by having a huge win one week then 2 steps back by playing the way they did tonight.
Blame not to laid at any single player, they were all ordinary, of course some offended more then others

Lets not get despondent, while we were pretty average, the Chiefs were awesome, some great running and they attacked the loose with venom. Credit where its due even if we played better we would have found it hard to beat them especially the way they played the first half.
Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
Well that was ass.
Granted I didn't see any footage, so probably not as frustrating for me as for those who did, but it sure felt like the general flow of Jarg's commentry (for the first half I followed)was:
Chiefs turnover- Force on attack
(30 sec later) Knock on
Well, that and alot of missed tackles.
Think Jarg's analogy to Freo is quite apt. Man that's dissapointing after last week's elation.
Turnovers and missed tacklesEvery time we contested, it seemed like the ball popped out on the Chiefs' side. The end-of-game stats made it look like it was a close match, but the scoreboard showed something else.
The intensity of last week seemed to be transferred to the Chiefs. We were all over the shop, and the Chiefs were constantly in our face.
Farrout. Congrats, Chiefs. Even your fumble-fingers couldn't save us!
Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
it is the courage to continue that counts.
