Seeing as I have been lurking round with the odd post I thought I had better introduce myself...
Rugby past....bit of a journey man....
Started rugby at school which was the rugby nursery "Nudgee College". Our First XV in my junior year included a couple of handy players by the name of Mark Loane and Paul McLean.
In my senior year I played as a fullback( I had all my hair then) in the Fourths and one of of props was Tony Darcy who went on to play a few tests for Australia (lesson for young ones- you dont have to be a superstar at school to play for the Wallabies)
My first weekend out of boarding school was during one of the infamous Queensland beer strikes and I was introduced to Bundy by a fit young guy who was just starting to play for Queensland by the name of Chris Handy......(its all your fault Budda)
I then saw the light and started playing in the forwards for Maroochydore in the Brisbane Subbies comp where as a hooker I swung off a guy called Dave Dunworth....at that time a retired Wallaby...but we did play a game at the hallowed turf of Ballymore so the Wallaby selectors could recall the big unit for a test against the Froggies...
Had a short stint at Rockhampton Brothers Club before I was sent to Alice Springs where I had to become a mungo as there was no Rugby there at the time...
That was a character building exercise in that we lost 6 Grand Finals in a row..but hell we partied....
Then onto Deniliquin ..right on the nsw/vic border where Aussie Rules reigned supreme and I helped start a club ....The Deniliquin Drovers. It was there I learned all the best aussie rules put downs as we were fighting in the aerial ping pong trenches...
"Aussie Rules...only game in the world where you get a point for missing..."
"Aussie Rules...yeah...my little sister plays that and she reckons its great..."
Then transferred to the West and after many previous years of being on committees and team manager and training....took on the quite life except for being a quite spectator at local games....
And now we have the Force....I have again become a rabit, "cancel work I'm off to the Rugby" fanatic...
GO THE FORCE

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
