Apart from Genia is that not the same run on team as last week?
Cannot believe Ben Mac didn't get a start. That is shocking!
Great game, Fucken battled right through to the 80!
More than shocking - it's a bloody disgrace!! And big girl's blouse Genia is back too.
New coach; same old bias.
Not going to get up early on a Sunday morning to watch that lot.

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.
That's true.
But my main issue with this week's team selection is that McCalman was one of the best on field last week and made a noticeable difference when he came on so why isn't he starting this week if not on grounds of east coast selection bias? No point bringing him on later in the game when we're already 20 points behind. Why not play him from the whistle and get to HT 20 points up?
Genia has been pedestrian for a while now and yet still gets picked even though White is arguably in better overall form at the moment. Yes he was perhaps the world's best scrummie in 2011, but he isn't anymore imo.
As for the rest - meh!

Why have Toomua and Foley on the bench? CFS at least offers options in the mid field and wing.
I can't believe that Benny Mac isn't starting. Strange as this would allow Mowen to play in his best position of 6 too.
It's on a much more reasonable time over east. I might even be up in time to watch it!

Genia back in? Benny Mac out? WTF!!!!!!!!!!???
Al, I'm not normally one to disagree with you, but you have pointed out that the team played better with Benny Mac on the field and he deserved to start, but have criticized Will Genia's selection even though he played pretty much the same minutes as Ben.
The Force colored glasses are getting in the way there, either they both deserve to be in or they both deserve to be out.

Fair comment GIGS, but did Genia have the same amount of impact when he came on as as Benny Mac? Not sure he did.

Wow, to say the 9 wasn't pivotal in the improvement is a pretty big call Al. Just because it wasn't obvious doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Genia would have been the link between the forwards and the backs, Genia would have been the eyes and ears of the pack at the breakdown, Genia would have been solely responsible for the quality of ball to the flyhalf. All pretty major parts of the game and I would argue that a resurgence pretty much doesn't happen with a poor 9

yeah, i thought that genia on had a big impact to the performance, same with Benny Mac. Has Ben had a par performance to Fardy? as that is who he will probably replace.
Fardy is a lock at the Brumbies and thats where he should be.
Mowan is a 6 at the Brumbies and thats where he should be.
Simmons is a waste of space at the Reds and an even bigger waste of space for the Wobs.
this is what the back 5 should look like.
4 Fardy
5 Horwill (who is on thin ice)
6 Mowan
7 Hooper
8 McCalman
