After reading a couple of post in a different thread, I thought it would be interesting to see where everyones roots are. What's your family background?
My parents and I were born in the US. My grandparents on my mothers side were raised in Italy. They came to the US in the early 1900's. My grandparents on my fathers side I always thought were from Checkoslovakia but recently we found out it may have been Hungrary. That part of Europe has total different than pre-WWI.
Italian/Slovak
Ukraine, Austrian, French and a wee bit of Irish, but all Aussie bastard.
Irish/ Scottish for me, a fiery mix to be sure....och aye
Fathers side has along Australian born line with a bog irish ancestary, and a few top ups along the way. Th last I heard from my geneologist aunt, was that there is some confusion as to the first Aussie - there was apparently a convict and an officer with the same name.
Mothers side goes back about 4 generations Australian, with the ancestors being mostly paddies, jocks and taffies with just a tincture of tadpole (little insy winsy bit of french)
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Confusion in our family as we cant decide which came first, the chicken or the egg (and dont even start me on the mustard)?!

Well my heritege revolves around backing down from any kind of fight, kicking you when you're down, being better than everyone else and drinking heavily.Originally Posted by frontrow

My parents were both born and raised in New Zealand. My mother's side are Pakehas (white european new zealanders) and my Dad's side......................my grandmother is 100% Maori and my grandfather is also a pakeha of descent from East Prussia, which is now a part of germany.
I was born here, but have always been torn between New Zealand and Australia.
