In the wake of JOC leaving the club, this could be a great opportunity for a local talent to step into his shoes, and Kyle seems to be the best placed to do it.
Anyone know how he is progressing? He must be 18 or 19 by now, and looking to get a full contract and make his super rugby debut.
Godwin is 19 this year, so 20 next year.
The shoulder injury he copped against the Waratahs in Nowra in the pre-season has been a bit of a spanner in the works for his development. Hopefully next year he will be ready to take a bench spot, if needed, at Super Rugby level and maybe look at coming on as a fullback. The Force would be crazy not to give him a full contract.
Has anyone caught any of Zac Holmes' games with the 7s? I know he played in the final of the most recent series but I didn't catch any of it. It would be great to have him in the senior academy.

kyle is full contract to my knowledge. would be playing aussie 20s had he not damaged his shoulder, still about 5 weeks away from playing again (well thats what he told me) as long as he stays injury free next year or so he will start to get some game time
Zack is playing for Northern Suburbs in the Sydney Comp and was leading points scorer
until he went away on 7s duty
Not that I wouldn't applaud the Force for locking Godwin in, but he was listed as an apprentice in all the pre-season materials, wasn't he?
Be great to get Holmes back as an OB. Make the Force more West Aussie. Get a bit of heart into the team. I don't mind backing a losing team with heart but too often the Force are a losing team when they should win and the heart is lacking something serious.

What is the latest about how Kyle has recovered from his operation?
Did he play club footie in Perth in 2011 after the op and if so, did his shoulder hold up?
Thanks.
PS I was at the game in Sydney when he hurt his shoulder - looked a bad one at the time.
I had heard that Zac had been given a Brumbies contract???
that was also my understanding
Yep - full contract for two years. Had a terrific season in the Shute Shield for Northern Suburbs and was not a bad goal kicker ... to boot.![]()

I had heard that it was nearly better about the time that the Force had their post season Samoa tour, which was about the time of that U19 Aus vs U18 England game. I think he was included in one of those squads but didn't play because he wasn't match fit and they didn't want to risk him.
I'm pretty sure I have seen him in some of the Force's pre-season training vids on Youtube.
I think the Force are having an open training session on Monday. I'll go along and ask after him and let you know.

Thank you.

Godwin to have Shoulder surgury this week will miss the Brumbies game.
“Everyone knows whether it’s rugby, politics or whatever, front-rowers should rule the world, so to have a hooker at the helm makes sense,” Nathan Charles Western Force & Wallabies Hooker.
Yep Just read that in The Wost today too. Wonder if that will hurt his Wallaby chances for the Spring Tour.
Shame to hear about Kyle Godwin that boy truly is one talented player and has done better than anyone of us could have dreamed of this season.
Looking forward to a fitter and stronger KG next season with some even better talent in and around him.
