The Sharks have grounded their way to a 12-10 victory over the Stormers, punishing the visitors' second-half indiscipline to record a second successive victory in an all-South African Super 14 derby.

The Sharks kicked all their points in the second half of an attritional match played in hot and humid conditions as the Stormers were twice reduced to 14 men.

Flanker Schalk Burger was yellow carded for foul play in the 48th minute to allow Ruan Pienaar to register the Sharks' first points with a penalty.

Sharks replacement scrumhalf Rory Kockott kicked the first of his three penalties on the hour as the Stormers struggled to gain any possession at the breakdown.

Kockott added a second when replacement centre Dylan Des Fountain was sinbinned in the 66th minute for killing the ball at the breakdown and steered home the match winner while the Stormers were still a man short with nine minutes remaining.

The Sharks had dominated the first half but trailed 10-0 at halftime.

Stormers scrumhalf Ricky Januarie dummied down the side of a tryline ruck to score the only try of the match on a rare Stormers foray into the Sharks' 22. Peter Grant converted and added a penalty on the stroke of halftime.

Sharks 12: Rory Kockott 3 pens; Ruan Pienaar pen.

Stormers 10: Ricky Januarie try; Peter Grant con, pen. Ht: 0-10
