Town of Vincent to upgrade MES?

I saw Krusher posted in the shoutbox that the Town of Vincent was going to upgrade MES off it's own back? A quick google found nothing - anyone got anymore information?

upgrade of Members Equity Stadium/Perth Oval as the preferred rectangular stadium with an
eventual capacity for 35,000. The monies for Stage 2 were even set aside in the State Budget

doesn't look like they have plans to upgrade seating capacity though by the looks of the plan... what does it say in the paper? Must grab a copy on my way home from work.

Looks like one new stand and more temporary seating to bring it up to 25,000 cpacity. $35m does not get you much, so don't expect much.

However, with the petition going well and a bit of press on it too, you never know what the outcome will be. The important thing is to keep pushing the issue and build momentum.

PS Well done to the guys behind the petition, it is now up to us punters to spread the word and get signatures.

I've sent an email to the Mayor of the Town of Vincent. According to the paper, they are preparing a business case to submit to the government for adding 7000 seats (capacity 25000) and improving corporate facilities. For my money, since we're doing this concurrently, it presents a chance for the Town Council to show there is strong support for the upgrades, which should improve the chances for their funding being approved. Alternatively, it may show that there is grounds for a more ambitious improvement. I didn't mention it in the email, but should we decide that we want to include some sort of march to Member's Equity in order to build media support, having the council onside wouldn't go astray either...

Yeah, one new stand and more temorary seating. An extra 7500 seats. To me a few of the Town of Vincent's arguements seemed like some
of the arguements from this website.

Jess, I agree 25000 isn't enough. It would be interesting to know what potential capacity the Member's Equity site has- could it expand to accomodate 40000, money nowithstanding? We could look at 25k (though preferably 30k) as a starting point, but there would need to be room left for additional expansion, otherwise we'll end up like the muppets at the WAFC with a ground that can't so much as fit thier members in it.
