Force lose Hardy for a month

March 11, 2008 WESTERN Force prop Gareth Hardy is expected to be out of Super 14 action for at least four weeks after being diagnosed with ankle ligament damage.

Hardy was replaced in the 65th minute after twisting his ankle in a scrum during the loss to the Crusaders at Subiaco Oval.

An MRI scan has confirmed the 27-year-old suffered ligament damage and he'll miss the team's two-match tour of New Zealand for games against the Blues and the Highlanders.

Force team doctor Peter Steele said it was hard to pinpoint recovery time for injuries like Hardy's.

"Gareth's injury is very similar to a Syndesmosis sprain which can be difficult to assess at the early stages as to how long his recovery period will be," said Steele.

"He will wear a supportive boot for about ten days and he'll hopefully be back running in three weeks."

I can personally vouch that his injury will put him out for that long at least

Pek will do OK. He'll have to. He probably just needs more S14 game time to ajust to the pace. He did OK in the ARC and he's been here since the start, so if the coaches didn't rate him he'd be already gone.

i agree...he was starting to look good in the arc and he's still only a young pup...more experience and he'll dominate

You guys must have been watching a different competition that me then, 'cos in the ARC I watched Pek trashed his ankle in the second match and didn't play again...

He may well get the nod as we've not much depth, but he will need to step up bigtime from the trial game against the Reds. Longbottom probably isn't there yet either, but I wonder whether we'll see McIsaac reprise his propping role from the first year?

He was, but several times we got pinged for it. But I wouldn't worry if the Blues and Highlander props are nowhere as good as Blake or at all tricky.

Yeah, I wouldn't criticizs Pek's strength or his technique, but Blake certainly run rings around him in the trial.........that ain't a good sign since Blake's a hack. It was all under the table bullshit, but it did work for a while!

My call! Boof needs a witch doctor!
