Who says props don’t score tries? The man they call ‘Boof’ posted two five pointers, his first against the Bulls in round three and then the following week against the Lions. Solid performances during the 2007 Investec Super 14 season, in which he was one of only six players to play in all of the Emirates Western Force games, put him back on the Wallabies radar. One of 14 Force players selected in the Wallabies train-on squad in May, Gareth played for Australia A against Tonga, Fiji, Samoa and scored a try against Japan. He is studying an MBA through Australian Graduate School of Management and is the part-owner of Innovative Solutions Oceania/ISports Marketing (Isports marketing - thundersign, rollsign, sunsign, foldsign, swingsign), which specializes in sponsorship and marketing products like the Vodafone ‘Go Force’ banners. Tonsil and ankle surgery kept him out of the early stages of the Mazda Australian Rugby Championship.

Gareth Hardy has been playing professional rugby in Australia for a number of years, both at the Force and prior to that at the Waratahs.

A solid scrummager with exceptional ability in the loose, Hardy was well and truly on the radar of national selectors before an ankle injury sustained in the early rounds of the competition limited his appearances to just four for the Emirates Western Force last season.

‘Boof’ earned his maiden representative call up in 2007 for the Australia A team after earlier being named in an extended Wallabies squad in the lead up to the winter Test campaign. One of the more established front row forwards in Australian Rugby, he needs just seven more appearances for the WA side to attain the milestone of 50 Super caps.

Gareth brings experience to the RUPA Board and is a man who is passionate about assisting in player issues. He was appointed to the Board in December 2008 to replace Nathan Sharpe.

He is a board member alongside fellow Western Force player Dave Pusey and former Force player John Welborn.
