Cams Column - pre Bulls game

Force have to give Bulls the respect they deserve

THE less said about Friday night's performance the better. It was disappointing and we need to move on, writes Force fullback Cameron Shepherd.
Before the season started there was talk about how tough the start was going to be for us and how intense the travel was going to be.

Maybe it all caught up with us, maybe we were too relaxed, whatever it was we won't be letting it happen again.

There's always a game or two when perhaps you don't turn up and something dreadful goes wrong, and Friday night was certainly one of those nights.

Maybe it was a good thing to get it out of the way now so we can concentrate on the rest of the season.

The first session back on Monday was tough, obviously because the feeling was not as good as it would have been had we won, but it was tough because we know we let down the coaches, ourselves and our fans.

Mitch (coach John Mitchell) expects a lot from us and we expect a lot from ourselves. We just didn't stand up.

There were a few little niggles and injuries from Friday, but that's all part of the game.

We have got to put it behind us and turn up again this Friday night.

We know we were poor, but we are by no means over and done with.

The Bulls have not been performing well, but they are the reigning premiers and we have to give them the respect they deserve.

They have got some awesome players, such as Bryan Habana and their No.8 Pierre Spies, who is a quick and a strong.

They will be coming to Subiaco with something to prove.

Kaffa did a bit on this in Inside Rugby last night - basically our use of Gitts is becoming predictable and that is how the Stormers closed us down - then Marto came back and said that Pocock, Brown and Fava just weren't on the field last week - and that all the players were just exhausted from the Travelling etc..

    Good point too I thought.

What most people dont realise is that the up to last weeks game had done the most frequent flyer miles for the season. Maybe in the euphoria of the wins they hadnt realised it themselves.
