Sledging in wild west
Everywhere they go, the NSWRU administration gets sledged. Even on the other side of Australia. In the program for last Saturday's match against the Force at Subiaco Oval, former Waratahs second-rower John Welborn provided a few hard truths. Querying why the Waratahs continually go on about their tradition and strengths, Welborn wrote: "Off the field, the politics of NSW Rugby seems to be locked in a perpetual state of turmoil. The heart of this trouble lies with several powerful constituent Sydney clubs, whose interests are not aligned with those of the Waratahs. This situation is a sea anchor for the Waratahs and has persistently hampered their on- and off-field performances. Financially, NSW Rugby has resembled a roller-coaster, and on several occasions the union has flirted with insolvency."
