I'm pretty sure they were taken out of the comp when the Force came, which was a shame. I don't know if it was a direct result of the Force

its because we "WA" are now a professional organisation and have the super 14 franchise.

They need to have some sort of rep side in it for local players. Otherwise what do they aspire to? Force is a big jump from club rugby.

We did have the ARC, but NSW brought it down.....

Anyway, we still got the Perth Gold going, but we only get call-ups or invites to play against a touring side from overseas or against the Academy....

which brings me to the next point, anyone going to watch the Academy play Singapore this saturday? Should be an interesting game at best...

I'll be there - holding a flag on the side-line.

This game, just to rain a reign of more confusion, shall be played under the non-ELV version of the laws. And reffed (& TJ'd) by those who have only done ELVs this year so far.............

Maybe it's just me but would anyone else like to see the Perth Gold name brought back for any new national comp? It means more to me than the Perth Spirit brand...

Perth Gold was subsumed into the spirit side for the ARC....with the demise of the ARC, so went the demise of the spirit (and the Gold)

I assume that ACT suffered the same fate.

Never fear, I think any new national club championship will see the resurrection of this team (whether it's called gold or spirit is a matter of conjecture)
