IT took 13 years for the Waratahs to develop a team that genuinely believed it could win the Super rugby title.

And now the Waratahs, under a new coaching regime, will be looking to start all over again next season with the impending departure of several key players, including Wallabies forwards Dan Vickerman, Rocky Elsom and David Lyons.

Reserve hooker Adam Freier is considering an offer to play overseas, while injured centre Ben Jacobs and Sam Harris, who was the Waratahs' 23rd man for the Super 14 final on Saturday night, are also set to go.

Halfback Josh Valentine, who is weighing up options that include an offer from Western Force, is also a chance to leave.
