Deans tells Beale, Horne to bide time

Deans tells Beale, Horne to bide time
    AAP - June 2, 2008, 12:01 am

Robbie Deans says it is inevitable that Rob Horne and Kurtley Beale will play for the Wallabies one day, but the two young guns will have to wait after being omitted from the 30-man squad for Australia's Tests this month against Ireland and France.

Despite impressing Deans first hand with their skill and poise in Saturday night's Super 14 final in Christchurch, the NSW Waratahs pair have been overlooked for both the Wallabies and the 26-strong Australia A squad being named on Monday.

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

    Injury cruels Beale's Wallaby hopes
    1/06/2008 2:21:08 PM
    Steve Orme
    Sportal

Emerging flyhalf Kurtley Beale is facing four to six weeks on the sidelines 'at best' after injuring his ankle in the second half of his side's narrow loss to the Crusaders on Saturday night.

Beale, a strong contender for the 30-man-Wallabies squad to be announced in Sydney on Monday, will instead undergo scans to determine the extent of the damage to the ligaments in his right ankle.

While the setback is a dent to Beale's immediate hopes of winning his first Test cap, the injury will also see him miss the inaugural IRB Junior World Championship to be staged in Wales this month.

Really bad timing! I can see the U20s being a real testing ground for the next generation and to miss it could cost him a lot of exposure. Cooper performs, he'll get first crack at the AusA gig and Kurtley could find his star falling fast...

I dunno, Andy I think they're both overrated but I'd suggest Kurtley has come closer to the hype this year than Quade.....neither are the shooting stars they're made up to be!
