    First A-League Expansion Side Announced

The A-League has announced it's first expansion club for the 2009-2010 season, with the Gold Coast getting the first nod from Football Federation Australia (FFA). FFA is yet to announce the limit of this first Expansion, i have read some articles that say the league may grow from 8 to 12 temas in one hit. Heres the article:

June 06, 2008 SYDNEY FC has a rival as the A-League's glamour club after Australia's fourth richest man arrived by helicopter to sign Gold Coast United's licence.

advancing the case for a dedicated Rectangular in Perth FFA has granted a provisional licence to a side from North Queensland. I was aware of 2 bids for the new licence both from Townsville, but the article in todays West Australian doesn't say which one won the licence. So this takes the A-League to 10 teams from 2009-10 and adds a minimum of 2 extra games

Good, I believe AFL should be dealt with like the Yanks dealt with the Commies, containment until they eventually die off. This is a move to make the market too full in the Gold Coast for a AFL team to succeed.

rugby league got in first and now football will be playing out of the same stadium. A problem with the AFL plan for a team on the Gold Coast is they may divide the support for the Brisbane Lions. Instead of the Lions attracting a crowd of 25-30k they way have both sides playing in front of 10-15k

Ultimately, the A-League wants enough teams so that it can get four entries into the Asian Champions League. That competition is undergoing a major expansion next year but the A-League will still only have 2 places allocated to it.

Now if the Glory would just get its act together...

We got us an Argentine and Brazilian this year, so I think we will do fine. The problem in previous years is we had alot of decent players but the other teams had a few superstars thrown in, now I hope we have that too.

The Glory have picked up some decent players in the off season and i'm confident they will improve, I don't think they will play finals

The Glory started well behind the 8 ball when the A-League first started up unfortunately
