    Booing ?

So, What are you thoughts on booing?

    You can boo:

    1. anyone and everyone
    2. the opposition at every opportunity
    3. the ref at every opportunity
    4. opposition deliberate foul play
    5. your teams deliberate foul play
    6. obviously bad refereeing
    7. any refereeing errors
    8. no one, booing is bad

All booing is bad - no excuses. Its something other crowds do at other sporting events.

I would only boo opposition deliberate foul play (would have to be major, I.E. tackling someone in the air, etc), bad refereeing (when the replay clearly shows a try but the ref called knock on, etc) but in general, booing is bad and I try to avoid it.

A well-timed witty remark is regarded far higher than booing.

How do you let them know they suck?

I think it's great that you want to be different than other fans of other sports, but I really don't see a problem with booing.

    I voted, Anyone and everyone. Because I agree with 4, 5, & 6.

I don't have a problem with someone booing their own team if it's obvious that they have given up or aren't giving 100% effort, the coach makes what you feel is a boneheaded move. Obviously if you boo everything you look like an idiot, but there's certainly a time and a place and everyone is game.

Note: This is strictly for professional sports. In amateur sports there's no time or place that a player, coach or ref should ever be booed.

    Whatever your saying...

Certainly isnt the majority at Subiaco Oval.

    Parochialism is far more important...

Agree with Larry about 4 & 6 though not point 5. Always bad news to boo your own team, Egan is correct parochialism is more important and if the bad play from your team is deliberate then i am assuming there is a good reason for it so why boo. The one missing off the list is booing kicks at goal, never happy about that as it reminds me of football (sorry that will be soccer) or of the French...I dislike both in equal measures.

Agree, it's always pissed me off people booing during a kick....the shame is it never used to happen at Murrayfield and now it's as bad there as anywhere. Unfortunately people think they are helping there team by trying to boo the opposition kicker but the only thing they are doing is embarrassing there team.

Booing is unacceptable... It is not part of the rugby spirit. The WA rugby community cannot bring it into its rugby culture. Booing has AFL written all over it. Applauding good play, regardless of which side, is what separates rugby fans from the rest. The Referee is always right. How can we teach kids sportsmanship if they see adults and people they look up to booing anything and everything?!?
