WA's converted, but Seven won't try live rugby.

A well written article from Ben O'Shea of the West Australian.

Apologies to the West for not giving an on line link. There was none.

Good article same head in the sand response.
I think the key is to ensure that you leave your TV on whenever there is Rugby on, even if you are out or in bed!

The Vicar of Dibley would be a better option in the Frontrow than Trestle anyway

Thanks for that TG. I doubt there is any more we could add that has not been said before in previous threads. Good to see it make the papers (even if C7 take no notice).

anyone here have one of the black boxes that they use to determine ratings? I was offered one many many years ago but stupidly declined

If you do - DON'T WATCH 7 when there is a rugby game on that they could be telecasting! Pass this on to anyone you know who does have a ratings box thingamajig

So they're to blame for Richie Rich getting high ratings!

    The solution= Access 31.

Therein lies the problem for Rugby in WA. Most of Rugby people either have Foxtel or they go to a pub. This ALWAYS causes the ratings for Rugby matches to be skewed. JO'N says that we should look at the combined ratings of Fox + Seven. But this is not going to grow the fan base in WA or other AFL states. Only live (or decent time slot) FTA will do that.

    The Cracked Record.

We also need to encourage anyone with ratings boxes to turn it onto 7 for the one game they will be broadcasting live on August 2nd. If we find enough black box equipped people, boycotting when 7 should have live rugby and supporting when they do may help our cause...

I know Jargan has said he knows two people with the boxes...but surely they use other methods than the black boxes nowadays???

For instance my TV a couple months ago told me it had "new channels" and needed to be updated. So you hit the update button and voila. Surely if the TV can send and receive such signals they can send and receive similar signals about what you are watching without needing a stupid black box.

To log your personal viewing patterns without your express permission (or knowledge) would be a massive invasion of privacy. Witness Microsoft and other trying to do this in years past - you have to actively 'opt-in' nowadays. I think it might even be legislated...?
