Firepower investor to the rescue for Giteau

A WA businessman who stands to lose up to $20 million from the collapse of fuel technology group Firepower has offered to help compensate Western Force player Matt Giteau for a chunk of the $750,000 sponsorship which the Wallabies star has lost as a result of the company’s failure.

Ross Graham, who chairs mining machinery group Executive Traders, is a key player in a rescue package being created in a bid to keep Giteau at the Force.

In light of arguments (on this site) advocating for tighter scrutiny of sponsors' financials as a result of the Firepower debacle, should we (Force) now insist on full financial disclosure from TS Marine, Ross Graham/Executive Traders and all other (current and future) sponsors?

At this stage the rescue only involves the 3rd party sponsorship of players. And we know we are not allowed to be involved in that in any way..no sireeee Bob..

If they however it was for sleeve sponsorship then the Chief Financial Officer would have to perform due diligence on the company, obtain directors guarantees, gain a hedge position on whatever financial market the sponsor is involved with in the event of global downturn that is no fault of the sponsor, and then finally ask Gerry Rile and Jac Magners if its OK.
