The lesson there is of course, next time a copper questions you about getting your "cricket helmet"* on in the car, you can just tell them you "had to get to training" and proceed to take the really long, swervy kind of way to training... mind those garbage bins.

*cricket helmet (verb): To get extremely intoxicated at a TWF Paddo Challenge, necessitating donning protective sports wear for the drive home.

If he was intelligent enough to be able to get a driver's license and come up with that excuse he should be smart enough to be able to figure out how to catch a bus. He was happy to drive like a tool and put the lives of the public at risk but now he can't catch public transport and he continues to be able to drive around like nothing happened.
Whatever happened to being punished for what he'd done. Yes fining him, suspending him from Warriors training & suspending his licence is one thing but he can earn the money back, he's just been given his licence back with a few restrictions and he is expected to be able to resume training with the Warriors despite the 2 season suspension. That's not going to teach him a lesson, other than that if he comes up with a good enough excuse he'll get off with a lesser punishment. FOOL!
AND he claimed that catching the train home from Gosnells is dangerous at night time, after games. If I can catch a train to Armadale at night time he, as a pretty hefty, bloke & professional athlete, can sure as day catch a train from Gosnells!!

    ................................

Also, that dog Scooby being rescued. Well not the dog being rescued but the fact that Australia could commit so much to rescue a blind dog and then make a tv show about it, why not put some more time and effort in to trying to rescue or recover people affected by the land slides, tsunamis and earthquakes in Samoa, Tonga & Indonesia?
How can the life of 1 dog be more newsworthy than the the hundreds of lives lost and families destroyed by a natural disaster?

    Rant over.

he had to get back his license so he can comply with the conditions of his contract. the public transport to get to the WACA is a bit tricky, the red cat doesnt always stop there are at normal times...

Plenty of people lose their jobs because they've lost their licence

I'm sure an athlete of his ilk could manage the walk to the WACA from the bus stops on the Terrace if the Red Cat was off.

Plenty of people get extraordinary licenses without media scrutiny too, I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

I make a living helping people get extraordinary Drivers' licences.

In my estimation very few serious traffic offenders deserve them.

Having said that, and not speaking in relation to the cricketer's outrageous behaviour, the laws of this state permit the suspension of licences for offences which sometimes have nothing to do with driving and have no relevance to driving ability.

Until licence suspension is related directly to driving behaviour and nothing else, such suspensions will continue to be treated with contempt and ignored by much of the public, and the never ending spiral of offence, suspension, offence, will continue.

yeah... and taxis are too unreliable. Forget about getting a lift off a teammate, it just doesn't happen.

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.

If his job and his contractual obligations meant so much to him, he should have considered them before getting behind the wheel while plastered. He could have quite easily hit a person instead of a bin, then he'd be up for a manslaughter charge or would he get off that too because he needs to play cricket?!

If the cat doesn't stop there, he can wait like all the other people who catch public transport have to or he could walk. Surely as a professional athlete a short walk wouldn't be too strenuous and exhausting for him.
