yes all four did restart - the pilot was praised by everyone!!

I understand people might be thinking qantas is up the creek with maintenance, but with all due respect - unless you have the same information in front of you of every airline in the world to compare with - a pinch of salt is required!

I'm flying on QANTAS to Singapore tomorrow and coming back on QF72 week after next.

I ask the question of all the nay sayers...if you have a problem with QANTAS getting some maintenance done overseas, where do the overseas airlines get their planes maintained?

    quantas is great.
the only other airline i would fly is singapore airlines because they have impeccable service. whereas sometimes quantas flight attendants can be rude.

I'm sure your 2nd grade teacher taught you there was no such thing as a 'q' without 'u' word, but since this is an acronym, I beg to differ.

P.S. This is a Western Force-related site...make sure say something nice about Emirates too.

Most of those major airlines are much of a muchness for mine (though Singapore and Emirates AVOD seem to have reached more of thier fleet than QANTAS), and despite thier bad rep, I've never had a problem with a Qantas hostie. There really are some interminably rude people around these days- you'd get sick of dealing with them and thier imagined self-importance too. After a long time away I really appreciate hearing an Aussie accent when I get on board.

I won't be giving up on the Kangaroo- as alot of other people have noted, it's not like the other airlines don't have their planes serviced 'overseas' too. It speaks to the professionalism of the crew that despite some pretty serious incidents of late (this one, the leaking water blowing up the electrical system, the door blowing out) every plane has come down in one piece. If any of these incidents happened on another airline we'd never hear about them unless they all went horribly, horribly wrong (i.e. kaboom).

Then again, having taken a couple of trips with Air Egypt, perhaps I'm a little renegade with my approach to air safety (from memory their record isn't that flash)

i dunno... the SMH misses a shitload of negative stuff for guesswork on an already exaggerated story. so i hope the fact that you dont hear about emirates isnt because they actually have a bad saftey record.

I'll flying from Adelaide to Sydney on Sunday with Qantas. It does concern me a little with the recent safety record, but that's only because I don't particularly like flying.

I would probably fly Emirates and Singapore Airlines now, because they have got great service and they're planes are always in great condition.

I've had really bad experiences on Qantas, with one flight even being turned around mid air. And Qantas probably employs the rudest stewardesses. But after this happened, esp to a close friend of mine, its really made me forget about the extra 100 dollars I'll end up paying to fly on SIA or Emirates.

Oh in that case a respected journalist recently discovered that all QANTAS flights out of Perth airport are doomed to some form of disaster or other, probably due to the fact that they are fuelled entirely by firepower fuel additive, thes that is the same doomed firepower that caused the Western Force to illegally recruit a number of promising Australian rugby players.

It is rumoured that most of QANTAS's pilots are about to sign with the Brumbies and there is a serious rift between the pilots of their aircraft and the air traffic controllers who are believed to have stormed out of the control tower in the middle of one flight. The pilots were heard to say "lock the door behind them"

    I dunno, I don't fly anywhere anyway
