The Brumbies are aiming at 10,000 members 2009...Its has dropped since Gregan and Larkham retired...they should get there…

Read the following post about Friend employing a psychologist. I would have place it as a new post but I still don’t have the right to start a new post. (could be all those reds dots?)

    Article extract: Explains Finegan’s mindset

There's mental toughness, then there's calling in the shrink.
ACT Brumbies coach Andy Friend has no concerns about his players' physical readiness for a Super 14 season but when it comes to the mental aspect, he's not entirely convinced.

So what else better to do than call in a psychologist to sort his troops out.

Dr Pieter Kruger, who worked with Friend at UK club Harlequins for two-and-a-half seasons, is spending three weeks with the Brumbies to test their mental skills and if need be, toughen them up.

Players and coaching staff have this week undergone a two-stage psyche test which included a written questionnaire as well as a heart rate and brain performance examination.

The questionnaire asked about the players' perception of their ability to deal with pressure and the type of thought processes that would be present when playing in a high-pressure game.

It also explored the thought content during critical moments, the ability to block out distracting thoughts or interference from external sources and the pressures felt as a result of internally or externally-created expectations.

Asked how the results were, Kruger said ''I haven't got around to all of them and completed them yet ... but apart from [forwards coach] Owen [Finegan] the boys have been quite good.''

Friend was pleased with Kruger's finding.

''It means he's accurate,'' Friend joked, in reference to Finegan's unstable findings.

Mudskipper - You should be able to start a new thread? Does this link : http://twf.com.au/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=104 work? (it should start a new thread in the Brumbies forum)

    We already have 10,000

I didn't know that people in the ACT were such bandwagon supporters

I'm sure they could sell more in Melbourne

if there matches werent played in freezing cold weather for half the season im sure they would get more to the game...

At the Reds matches i wear a t-shirt and jeans and go out afterwards, at the brumbies games i had to weart 2 t-shirst, a jumper and a coat, then go straight home to thwart off the threat of getting hypothermia.

Victorian's miggt not approve of union coming in and taking members from their beloved Storm.... Considering the slow down in our economy I would suggest that Vic would find it hard to accommodate more sport dollars than what it currently already has tied up....

I doubt they would take members away from the Storm, there will always be that proportion of people who Like Rugby and think League is a stupid game and vice versa.

There is that part that Burgs just mentioned, Victorians love their sport

I would imagine thet the Victorian State Government would support any side in some way, be it a new one or a relocated Brumbies to justify the new Rectangular Stadium that has been built in Melbourne, and the fact that Melbourne think they are the capital of the sporting universe with AFL, Football, Rugby League, all they would need is a Super 14 team

Many NZers in Melbourne and expats for that matter which would all support a local Melbourne S14 club. The Vics don't like league because its a NSW game...

    Or a relocated one

if it can work for the AFL when they moved the Swans to Sydney surely it would work with the ARU moving the Brumbies to Melbourne
